Climate Town is a video game designed to be played on huge vertical touch screens at Heritage Park's Innovation Crossing's Heated Histories: Alberta’s Energy Evolution Exhibit.

Players explore energy transition by managing a town and balancing carbon impact, "goodwill", and disruption in the town.

About The Game

Climate Town was commissioned by Heritage Park to explore energy transition and energy use as a system. The player takes the role of Mayor of Climate Town, and can upgrade buildings and infrastructure to reduce carbon impact.

Climate Town is inspired by Calgary’s existing plans for city improvement and energy transition. It explores the relationships between energy, infrastructure, community planning, and people.

How It’s Played

The game is intended to be very short to accommodate a large number of players at the museum. If time allows, players are welcome to repeat the game several times and earn a high score which is shared between all four of the plinths where the game can be played.
