Wero completes MEIC project

Wero Creative with the support of the MEIC have added new functionality to the Wero Game System. We are excited about seeing the new tools and options given to content creators that have been added being put into use.

The Wero Game System is designed to give people who want to create location-based games an easy to use platform that allows for fast publishing and global distribution.

Here’s what has been added with MEIC support:

An entirely new look and feel to both the front end and the admin backend

Location based gaming options

Flash media uploader

PDF viewer

New Teacher Admin section

Many new content creation tools

Wero is looking for an intern

Thanks to the great people at MEIC we’re looking for someone with some great PHP skills to improve our custom software. It’s a short- term paid internship that will provide the successful contact with some groovy networking opportunities. The software has been used on some of our projects but we’re looking to take it into a new market, read about the position below.

Wero Creative is a startup that is looking for an intern that add functionality to an existing PHP-based custom CMS. The current CMS is designed for the educational market and needs revisions to enter the new exiting world of locative media.

We are looking for someone who knows PHP and has a keen interest in the growing field of locative media.

This is an internship that will allow the successful applicant to work from home, or a cafe, or wherever one desires. You must be a capable independent worker that can meet deadlines. There will be frequent check-ins (likely over Skype) and required written reports on work completed.

You will be able to use your own computer and thus the software of your choice to work on the project.

- Knowledgeable in PHP and MySQL
- Familiar with a LAMP setup
- Familiar with locative media or interested in locative media
- Can work independently
- Strong writing skills for written reports
- Meet deadlines

Wero at ABEL Summer Institute

On August 24th we will be presenting our most exciting project to date: Rock Mars at York University.

2009 Idiotarod volunteers needed

Last year’s Idiotarod was a fun time and this year we are looking to up the fun and bring more hilarity.

This year we need more volunteers that can help make the magic happen. There will be a volunteer meeting and August with the race happening in September.

We need people to help pre-race for the following:

-Location scouting
-Test running the course
-Promotion
-Registration management

On race day we need people for:
-Registration management
-Race Marshals
-Crowd control
-Cheering

We’re hiring, can you draw?

Wero Creative is looking for a capable individual who is a graphic novel illustrator (or is looking to become one). The graphic novel will be distributed online to schools across Ontario as part of an interactive learning experience. The length of the novel will be between 50-60 pages.

Please feel free to submit your work.

We have not decided on any particular style and we’re willing to try anything. If you can send a link to sample artwork that would be appreciated.

Please contact adam at werocreative dot com with a link to your portfolio and rates. The ideal candidate is located in Toronto (or can come in for meetings) and is a Canadian citizen.

Idiotarod Toronto 2008 a go!

Idiotarod Toronto 2008 is going to happen on May 31st in Toronto (obviously). Adam is one of the organizers of the event and he says that “it’ll blow your socks off with it’s super-capacity of fun.”

Check out the site to have an questions about Idiotarod Toronto answered and each team needs to register. We’re happy to see that Torontoist as already picked up on the race.

The Iditarod is the famous Alaskan long-distance dog sled race, the IDIOTAROD is similar. Except instead of dogs and sleds, it’s people and shopping carts, it’s in Toronto, and it’s not long.

CIES in New York

Adam will be presenting a slightly revised version of the paper he presented at OISE Dean’s Conference in New York City at the CIES.

You can find him talking with his panel on Wed. March 19 at 3:30pm at Teachers College, which is part of Columbia University.
