Spout is another social networking site that wants to provide trusted reviews from friends. The site creators wanted to create a space that was somewhere between the theater and the film festival in terms of suggestions and reviews.

The basic idea is that we all know someone who we trust when it comes to their movie suggestions; so why not have all those people in one spot with recommendations stored? If you are into movies this is the website for you!

MIPCOM is an annual event that connects people working in entertainment so they can sell and purchase new projects, and best of all it happens in Cannes this October.

MIPCOM is best described on their site:

MIPCOM is the global content event for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content across all platforms. It provides the key decision-makers in the TV, film, digital and audiovisual content, production and distribution industry with the only market conference and networking forum to discover future trends and trade content rights on a global level.

Sounds pretty impressive! Indeed it is, they expect over 12,500 attendees and more than 4,000 companies.

MIPCOM has a sister event named MIPTV that happens in the spring (yes, also in Cannes) that is focused on the same things as MIPCOM. It appears that MIPCOM covers more territory though. Also in April is MIPDOC for documentaries – if you couldn’t tell from the name alone.

For shows focused on the younger demographics, MIPCOM Junior is the place to be. It is a shorter event that happens just before MIPCOM begins in October.
